Our Mill
A mill was recorded here in Little Crakehall in the Domesday Survey of 1086. After extensive repairs in 2010 – carried out as part of a major forthcoming BBC TV series – the waterwheel is turning once again.
PLEASE NOTE: The mill is not open for regular viewing. Please check the main mill page for forthcoming open days.
Bed & Breakfast
Award-winning bed & breakfast accommodation is available on site. Yorkshire breakfasts include home-made bread created using home-milled flour from the mill. Why not treat yourself to a short break in the peaceful setting of the watermill and its gently babbling beck?
Local Area
Crakehall is one of the prettiest villages in the Yorkshire Dales. The village green, just fine minutes' walk from Crakehall Watermill, is overlooked by an imposing manor house, St Gregory's Church, the thriving Bay Horse pub and a well-stocked local shop and filling station. The village cricket and quoits teams often play on the green in this beautiful setting during the summer.
Our Flour
Since the restoration work in 2010, the mill is once again harnessing the beck’s natural energy to grind wheat grown just a few miles away and produce 100% stoneground wholemeal flour that is perfect for bread making. You can buy our 100% stoneground wholemeal flour directly from us, or from select local stockists.
